con-s-piracy

I believe there to be a deep conspiracy, conspired by the religious conservatives in this country to penetrate America’s youth through popular culture. I’ve been openly critical of religiously affiliated entertainers and artists in the past, but I now believe that there is a subversive entity within the Christian coalition to reach youth through MTV like means. But it’s not just the MTV crowd that they are attacking. They are attacking a crowd of people who are likely more openminded to the artistic value of religious recordings but at the same time blind to the very purpose. Sufjan Stevens is prime example.
Church and state don’t mix well for obvious reasons. Parallel to this, in my opinion, religion in this country has no place in modern forms of art and entertainment, especially music.

Not only are they, the crusaders, spreading their form of religio-democracy to Iraq, but similar effects are being beamed to us in the guise of the indie spirit. Wading through the holy waters of what has religious context in a bible-beatin’ sense can fuck with a man’s mind, maing.
