“massive poverty traps”

by Raj on January 20, 2006

I don’t fully understand everything Umair has to say about, well, most things, but I can fully understand and appreciate his response to Michelle Malkin’s post recently regarding Ray Nagin and his comments about New Orleans.

Here’s what Umair had to say:

when the mayor of Nawlins says something stupid, it’s apartheid, but when generations of institutionalized racism which create massive poverty traps lead to disproportionately hugely more not white people being affected by a natural disaster (not to mention a government that seems totally uninterested in helping them) …it’s not.

While what Nagin said was obviously stupid, calling it Apartheid is just ridiculous.
