LoudSpeakers At InternmentCamp #021 - An Intro To Guided By Voices - (1997 - 2000) - #4 In The Series
The GBV podcasts continue unabated, “Alone, Stinking And Unafraid!” I started where I left off last time with the Mag Earwhig! era releases. This notably marks the introduction of Doug Gillard and Cobra Verde as the GBV backing band and the departure of Tobin Sprout. The change in direction and sound is dramatic and quite noticeable between periods. Also making a significant and lasting introduction during this time period is the Fading Captain Series (FCS), Bob’s own imprint that becomes the home of his efforts outside of GBV. It’s hard sometimes to discern why material was released as a proper GBV record as oppposed to something on the FCS. In my opinion, some of Bob’s best work can be found as a FCS release.
